Outstanding condition serial number 655 Confederate pistol captured by private Jonathan K. Wilson of the 27th Illinois Infantry during the Battle of Atlanta. Fully documented with a notarized letter from the family detailing the capture of the gun and holster from a Confederate Officer. This gun, a Kennansville Staff Sword and Confederate belt and buckle were captured together. When the items were sold at a country auction a number of years ago unfortunately they were broken up and went in different directions. This beautiful gun has all matching serial numbers and is in tight condition with a wonderful dark patina. Grips are outstanding with a tiny chip out of one corner and minor holster wear on the ends. The letter W is stamped on the butt of the walnut grips that retain most of the original finish. It would be hard to find another Spiller & Burr in this nice of condition. An historic documented captured Confederate Pistol.
